Spiritual Disciplines
This weekend we looked at Matthew 8:23-27 where Jesus Calms the Storm on the Sea of Galilee. We discussed the cost of discipleship and how faith grows in the midst of difficult circumstances. One of the ways in which we can grow in our relationship with Jesus is through Spiritual Disciplines. There are two vital disciplines that are essential to every follower of Jesus, those are scripture reading and prayer. We read and meditate on scripture in order to apply it to our life. We pray because it is impossible to be in relationship with God if we never speak to God. While those two are vital there are more disciplines that help us to grow.
Here is a list of different spiritual disciplines. This week try one or more of these disciplines to deepen your relationship with Jesus:
One book has been immensely helpful in my (Jeremy) spiritual walk. It is called "Christ Formed in You: The Power of the Gospel for Personal Change," by Brian Hedges. Please if you are having trouble connecting with any resources do not hesitate to contact me [email protected] Thanks!
Below I have included a written prayer about God being with us in hard times.
